Abstract

Objectives: Description and guidance regarding care for a wound caused by a piranha bite (Serrasalmus maculatus), in the region of a woman's calcaneus Case Report: A 44-year-old woman was bitten by piranha with the development of a large ulcer in the calcaneus region. We describe the wound healing care. The report emphatizes the wound healing care, performed daily by contact by electronic means. Discussion: The ulcer showed adequate healing after orienting the maintenance of cleaning the wound with warm water and neutral soap and spraying of essential fatty acids, removing the weekly use of the hydrocolloid plate. Conclusions: The hydrocolloid plate delayed the healing process of the ulcer, which evolved well after the change of hygiene measures and removal of the plate, with viable tissue being noticed from the fifteenth day of dressing.
